Mentorship

Mentorship for 2009/2010

The Mentorship Program pairs HR professionals with HR students to help bridge the gap between the classroom and the workplace.  It is an opportunity for practicing HR Professionals to help a student clarify personal and professional goals while easing the transition into the workplace. Each mentor will serve as a source of information on career options, designations, associations, industry trends, and HR experiences in the work place.

For Students

Students interested in the mentorship program should e-mail our VP Mentorship/ Events, Odelia Choi for more information.  Typically the mentorship program is open to all UAHRMA members, however in some years we have had more interested students than available mentors.  In such cases, interviews or detailed student profiles may be required to ensure there is only one student per mentor.

For Professionals

There are many advantages to being a student mentor.  Mentors are given the opportunity to play a significant role in student development; many students have said the mentorship program was a highlight of their University education.  Mentors are given the opportunity to network with future HR professionals while imparting their knowledge and experiences from working in HR.  Additionally, mentors receive points towards CHRP certification.  If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please contact our VP Mentorship/ Events, Odelia Choi.
