Michelle Bonot – VP Conference

Hi everyone! I’m Michelle Bonot and I am Farah’s partner in crime as VP Conference. Both of us had the opportunity with the Conference last year as the Director of Sponsorship and so I am excited to work on the planning and execution of it this year.

I am the baby of the group since I’m in my 3rd year of University with a major in Human Resource Management and a minor in Operations Management. What I love about Human Resources is planning, more planning and working with other people. I hope you all have a wonderful time at the conference. I look forward to meeting you!

My experience has been a valuable one, I have had the opportunity to collaborate with an awesome planning committee which is made up of some very driven and supportive individuals. I’m interested in many areas of HR specifically training and development. We have planned a conference keeping all of you in mind making sure that most areas of interest within HR and management have been covered, hope to see you all there!

Hello everyone. I am Ryan Stovall and I look after the finances for the club and conference. This experience has allowed me to meet a variety of people, work with an excellent conference planning team, and use my knowledge & experience to provide ideas and support on a variety of matters.

My experiences working in Human Resources has shown that the field provides aninteresting and varied environment to work, and stimulates creative thinking and communication with a variety of people in and outside an organization. I look forward to graduating this April with a specialization in Human Resource Management and pursuing a career in this field. The 4th Annual HRM conference will be a great place to learn from industry experts and network with those interested in Human Resources.

Chai‐Ying Son – VP Speakers

Hi! My name is Chai and I am a 4th year HRM major with a minor in SMO. As the VP Events and Director of Speakers, my goal is to bring learning opportunities to UAHRMA members and those who are interested in the HR world. During Fall 2009, UAHRMA had its AGM, Mentorship Evening, a fabulous teambuilding event, and a Christmas Party. Stay tuned for Executive Recruitment in February and the 4th Annual HRM conference in March! Feel free to contact me should you have any questions/concerns/suggestions— see you at the next UAHRMA event!

Pinky Aulakh – VP External

I am in the last year of my BComm degree and excited to be a part of the fourth annual HR&M Student Conference this year as a volunteer responsible for table sponsorship. I chose Human Resources as my major because I enjoy interacting with people and for those who will also be starting their careers in this area shortly this conference serves as an excellent opportunity to learn about various HR topics that affect professionals today, network, and help develop our business skills.

Navi Chatha – VP Marketing

Hello all! I’m Navi Chatha and this year I am VP Mentorship and VP Marketing! Being the VP of Marketing my role in regards to the annual HRM conference is to create awareness by designing and distributing informational pamphlets and posters. With the creative talents of Raja Abbas (plushmarketing.net), we are revamping the UAHRMA website to make it more accessible and easy to use. The mentorship program allowed me to help current HR students acquire practical knowledge from industry professionals serving as their mentors.

I am currently in my last semester and am super nervous but excited to graduate this April. I will be graduating with a major in Human Resources Management and a minor in Marketing. I joined UAHRMA because I wanted more insight into the HR field and practical networking opportunities. Being a part of UAHRMA has given me the opportunity to meet a variety of individuals from students, to mentors, to fellow executives.

I am looking forward to the 4TH Annual Human Resources Management Conference this year as it will provide those who attend a great networking opportunity and invaluable knowledge about current trends in the dynamic field of HR. In this economy students should take advantage of every opportunity they can get. This conference will enable you as students to be one step ahead. Hope to see you there!

Alex Rayner – President (UAHRMA)

I’m in my fifth year at the University of Alberta and a two year veteran of UAHRMA. A Human Resources Management major and Marketing minor, I have sought sponsorship funds and recruited speakers to assist with the Fourth Annual Student HR Conference.

I’m interested in a Human Resources Management career because of the strategic role it can play in organizations. In particular, I have a keen interest in corporate ethics, employment branding, and improving the employee experience. See you in March.”
