Edmonton…vibrant, creative, unique!
Known as Canada’s Festival City, Edmonton offers everything a major metropolis can offer. Museums, shopping, dining, galleries, live theatres, concerts, sporting events—there is something for everyone.
For those that are looking for an outdoor adventure, there is Elk Island National Park, located less than an hour out of Edmonton, where visitors can take an eco-tour and view the wildlife. In Edmonton’s core, there is also the Muttart Conservatory, Edmonton’s primary horticultural attraction. It features four beautiful glass pyramids filled with rare and wonderful plants from all over the world.
There are a number of options for those looking to experience something unique. The city’s most prominent landmark is West Edmonton Mall, the largest mall in North America and the 5th largest mall in the world. In this shopping centre, you will experience the best show on earth; 800 shops, 100 eateries, and 9 world-class attractions. Another favourite attraction is Old Strathcona, a designated Provincial Historic District and one of Canada’s top urban shopping districts. There you can enjoy a variety of pubs, and eateries. For those looking for a taste of the city’s history, there is Fort Edmonton Park, Canada’s largest living history museum. You will literally be transported through time.
Edmonton is quickly becoming known as a creative city. To get a taste of art and heritage in Edmonton, you can visit the city’s downtown. There you will find the Downtown Arts District, which includes the Winspear Centre—home of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra—, the Citadel Theatre, and the Art Gallery of Alberta.
Be sure to extend your stay after the Conference in order to visit the many sites Alberta’s Capital has to offer.
